The Greater Fort Wayne Aviation Museum is a showcase of aviation in the tri-state area, featuring military, commercial, and general aviation. The museum occupies 6000 sq. ft. of space on the secured side of the second floor of the Lt. Paul Baer terminal at the Fort Wayne International Airport.

Highlighting the lives of Ft. Wayne's "Bird Boy", Art Smith and WWI Ace, Lt. Paul Baer, the museum includes hundreds of memorabilia relating to the early years. Subject to security considerations, the museum is open to passengers only who have cleared the Security Checkpoint or to those on a Museum tour.  Open 365 days per year from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Admission is free.

Tours are free and last about 1 1/2 hours.  They can be scheduled for groups of 8 to 12 people.  Reservations must be made in advance to take this tour.  Call 260-747-4146 ext. 270 during business hours.

Historic details of the old Baer Field, local aviation heroes, and memories of Fort Wayne in the 40's and 50's are all tied into a fascinating glimpse of the early days of aviation in Fort Wayne.   Roger Myers, curator of the museum, conducts an educational tour with fascinating stories and  lots of information, so bring lots of questions.
